Summer is finally here! It’s getting hot in pretty much all parts of China. In the south especially, summer is in full swing and it’s definitely T-shirts and shorts weather. This makes travelling that much easier as you will not need bulky jumpers and thick coats. There is some risk of rain especially in central and south China, so bringing an umbrella along is a good idea.
The temperature in Beijing ranges from around 20-30 degrees Celcius (67-86 degrees Fahrenheit) during the day and around 16-20 degrees Celcius (65-68 Fahrenheit) in the evenings. In Shanghai, temperatures are very similar to Beijing weather.
June is a great month for travelling in China. The weather is usually very good for sightseeing. And if you are in China in June, don’t miss the Dragon Boat Festival. Exciting dragon boat races take places all over the country and eating zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves) is one of the most pleasurable activities of the festival.
