The most famed are the beaches in southern China with their pure white sand and set in tropical settings. But along the eastern shoreline, beautiful and less crowded beaches can be found.

Beidaihe Beach is on the coast of the Bohai Sea in Hebei province. With shallow waters and fine sand, it is a popular bathing beach among locals and tourists alike. Nearby Mount Lianfeng with its leafy peaks, shady pavilions and secluded paths, offer beach-goers respite from the heat and crowds during summer. Qingdao is also a popular destination for beach holidays. There are six main beaches and the most popular of them, the aptly named Number 1 beach at Huiquan is the longest one in Qingdao and within walking distance of the city.

The gorgeous beaches on tropical Hainan Island are perhaps the most well-known of Chinese beaches. With broad sandy expanses and clear waters, these popular beaches are perfect spots for wind-surfing and swimming. Beihai Silver Beach in Guangxi on the southern Chinese coast is famous for its white, silvery sand and clear, calm waters. This beach is sectioned into three areas and offer a multitude of water sports and activities for children.
